    Kickstarter Campaign

We’re recording a new CD and need your help!

CDcoverNEWlgWe are deep in the makings of a new CD and need your help to finish it. The costs of production, studio time, musician time, CD manufacturing and promo, costs well over $10,000. We are doing our best to pay as much of it as we can ourselves, but it is a daunting task so we’ve initiated a ‘KickStarter Campaign‘.. Since moving to Nova Scotia two and a half years ago to be closer to a thriving music scene (and cheaper housing), it has been a struggle to (more…)

Mayer even posted a full page blog about Yates’ ability as a writer stating, “Ken Yates wrote a song called ‘I Don’t Wanna Fall In Love’… this song moved me when I first heard it and still does today”. Yates’ EP received high critical acclaim, leading to a slew of online covers from fans. He has toured with many notable names including veteran singer/songwriter and mentor, Livingston Taylor, Sister Hazel, Peter Katz, and Liz Longley and has songs in heavy rotation on Sirius XM’s The Coffee House where he was nominated for The Coffee House Songwriter Discovery of the Year. Lot’s of ‘CAR STUFF’ in this post! The shoot for Jeff’s Musical Car is out and here it is… Thanks Jeff!!!

Going to the ECMA’s on PEI (first time on PEI for Robert & not since the 70’s for Cailin!) was a bumpy, foggy and fun ride too. 🙂 We won (more…)

  • New Video, concerts and more

    Happy New Year!

We’re looking forward to playing at the Rose & Kettle Concert Series on Thursday Jan. 23rd. This great series has hosted some amazing artists over the years and are fortunate to have a spot for ourselves. We are putting the finishing touches on some new tunes that we plan to debut with the wonderfully attentive audiences they draw. Admission is ‘by the boot’, which they literally pass around at intermission. Tasty treats, coffee and tea are available here at the Rose and Kettle Tearoom at the Cole Harbour Rural Heritage Farm, 471 Poplar Drive, just off of Otago Drive in Cole Harbour. Arrive early for a good seat!

Also upcoming is the ROCA House Spring Sessions including:

And finally, we have a new video! Robert did some editing and put this new video together of one of our cover tunes – Landslide, by Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac. This video was recorded at the Westacres House Concert in BC, June 2013.

  • Fresh snow and great gigs…

We love the fresh snow, sunny days, moonlit nights and walking the dogs at ROCA House and we’re looking forward to upcoming gigs: Trellis Cafe, Hubbard’s (N.S. best restaurant in 2012!) on Friday and the next day the new Just Us!, Dartmouth then Alderney Landing on the 21st for our last gig before Christmas.

Over the Christmas holidays, we’ll be writing, having friends and family over, and getting out to visit a bit too. Give us a call and drop in! We’ll be here and maybe we can all walk Daisy & Duke!

January 23rd we’re at the Rose & Kettle Concert Series which is a great concert venue at the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm. Hope you can make it!

  • Squashing Pumpkins and Music Week Nova Scotia

    The Great Pumpkin Squash…

On November 3rd we supported the ‘Squash CF’ Fundraiser up in Kingston Nova Scotia. It was a cool but fun day and folks really enjoyed coming out, listening to some music and donating to a good cause. CTV was onsite and did a promo. You can see we we’re dressed warmly for the day!

    Nova Scotia Music Week

We’re excited to be heading back to Cape Breton to participate in our 2nd Nova Scotia Music Week! Just awaiting word on showcase set and Robert will be joining Mark Cameron once again this year; this time for a full set rather than one tune on the awards show.

This event has a ton of great music, seminars and folks coming in from all around the world. Last year was wonderful and we’re sure this will be even better!

    Coming up…

  • Fantastic Fall

Cailin took this shoot in Cape Breton 2013-10-09
Cailin took this shot in Cape Breton 2013-10-09

We love the Nova Scotia seasons. The change from summer to Fall is such a wonderful procession as the changing colours march across the valley outside our house. Blessedly, there have been beautiful sunny days, cool clear nights and very little wind to blow the leaves down!

We are happy to announce some fun gigs coming up too! We are doing a small showcase at a new music venue called Ceilidh’s Pub in Dartmouth, Tuesday Oct 15. Always great supporting a new live music venue and this one has good food and is licensed so you can enjoy a beverage… or two.

IvanBconcertposterOur next evening at ROCA House is on Nov. 1st with Ivan Boudreau playing his great songs and we’ll join him on some and add a couple of songs ourselves. Ivan has released several CDs including a few under the band name “Tusket”  on which Robert played keys on some of the tunes. We’re looking forward to hearing his new stories and tunes. Check out these samples!

In a few days, we’ll be catching Mo Kenny in a special concert at Government House here in Halifax. Robert won tickets via ‘Halifax Pop Explosion’ folks. Very cool!

Then, provided we don’t get a gig like the last couple shows, we’ll be attending Bluebird North Halifax  with Carmel Mikol, Carmen Townsend, Jim Dorie, Kev Corbett and host Mel Farrimond which should be a whole bunch of fun!

Other than that it’s back to working around the house, walking the dogs, finding more gigs, and most important of all it’s time to get song writing again.

  • New Reviews and Apple Strudel

Since there are still people who don’t know who Campbell + Green are (I know! Right?), we continue the process of getting the word out, sending our CD to various radio, print and online sources, talking to people and looking for gigs. Just recently we had this review come back from the British Isles. A nice review, actually, and it is now posted on Amazon and other British online sources.

We’re finally getting some bookings here in Nova Scotia, too. We had great fun playing last Tuesday in Tantallon at (more…)

  • Fodder For Art

Life. Everything that happens around us and inside our heads is fodder for our creative spirit; food for our art, whether they be songs or paintings or any other art form. When I think about what’s been happening in our lives lately, I think ‘how the hell are we supposed to make a song out of that’? But never mind. The Great Spirit of Creativity always comes through and allows us glimpses into new ways of looking at things.
Here’s what’s been happening in the world of Campbell + Green lately…

    Musically

Marven-concertSince returning from our BC tour with our new CD we continue to receive excellent feedback on our new songs. Now, how do we let the people of the Maritimes know about them? That’s proving to be a challenge. We only know a handful of people here and most venues aren’t going to hire someone with no track record – at least in their minds. So, what to do? (more…)

  • Fireflies and Bears. Oh my!

The sun has found Nova Scotia. We’ve been back for a week and a half with a bit of grey & rain until now. It’s hot and sunny, and promises to be for a while, which is great because Jazzfest starts today in Halifax and we’ll be catching lots of music over the coming 10 days! We’re looking forward to getting down to the waterfront for (more…)

  • Meanwhile, back in Nova Scotia…

What a great trip to BC!! We played 10 gigs in the 3 weeks and every one was different and all were a great experience. We got to visit with family and friends but it’s never long enough. 🙁

The Maple Ridge Times was kind enough to ask reporter Maria Rantanen to come out to Westacres and interview us. She wrote a great article posted June 13th. And she took this video too. It’s an (more…)

  • And the learning continues…

Daisy & Duke in the sun...It is a beautiful warm day here in Nova Scotia and the sun is shining bright in the blue sky!

The ‘record another album’ process is in full swing here and the fun, learning, challenges and, well… life never stops! “Life” meaning that it makes our life so full.

Our crafting of songs was augmented by (more…)
