Cailin has offered to come out of ‘retirement’, as long as we don’t work TOO hard, so here we are with one show in Halifax and then we’re on VIA Rail From Toronto To Vancouver and back!
We hope to find a house concert or two in BC and in the Toronto-Peterborough area too just to keep things interesting and share a couple of the new songs we will be recording over the coming months.
Our tour through Ontario and in to Montreal is underway! Our first gigs in Toronto were great and we have one more there before Peterborough, Napannee, Ottawa then Montreal. We still have options for a house concert if you know anyone between Toronto to Montreal!
Finalists!!!
We also got the great news that we are finalists in the International Singer-Songwriters Association 2019 Awards being held in Atlanta. Thanks to your voting we made the cut in 8 categories!
We find out the judging results on August 3rd! Fingers and toes are crossed!!
And we’re not done yet! We have one more tour across Canada and back by VIA Rail to close out the year. We leave Sunday November 25th for a show in Toronto then off to BC for a series of shows in the early part of December. Then visiting with friends and family over the holidays before returning.
Dec 15 – Pitt Meadows – House Concert (contact us for details)
Dec 16 – Private Event (Rotary)
Dec 28 – VIA Rail Artists On Board Vancouver to Halifax (including NYE on the train!)
So we still have some openings for house concerts if you want to host us. It’s easy; just contact us!
In 2019 we have a few months around the Halifax area to write and record new songs before we head out and do it all again. We plan to stay in Canada for 2019 focussing on increasing our reach here, before returning to Europe again in the spring of 2020. Robert is busy booking our next spring, summer and fall. Any help is welcome at booking house concerts, listening rooms and festivals. We plan on going across Canada, so if you know of anywhere that would be a good fit for us, please let us know.
New Digs!
Our new view from our condo apartment
We promised a lot of people, while on our travels, that we would send pictures of our new place when we moved in. Well, here is a picture of the view from our living room. We are almost done our renovations and have moved in. It’s a tiny condo apartment with a bit of a view of Dartmouth, two small bedrooms, a small kitchen and a small living room! We wanted to downsize so we could focus more on music and touring and that’s exactly what we’re doing. It will take a bit of time for us to adjust to the smaller space, but we will manage. We figure since we can live out of one small suitcase each for months at a time while we are on the road, we should do just fine with four whole rooms! And the trade off… no lawn mowing, no snow shovelling, no weeding, no exterior house maintenance. Of course, we pay a small condo fee for someone else to do it, but it’s worth it. It frees up a whole lot of our time so we can focus on the things we love doing. (We will post some more photos on Facebook in the New Year).
Where have we been?
Where to start? Last winter we launched our second ever Kickstarter campaign and raised over $5000 to help pay for the recording of our latest album ‘On Being Human’. We recorded the album through March and had a soft release in April. Cailin’s Dad and stepmom visited the last week of April and we were able to finish the album in time to give them a copy. We started our touring May 9th when we boarded VIA Rail for Montreal, where we did a show at the funky Mariposa Le Cafe, and a house concert in Toronto, before boarding a plane bound for Frankfurt, Germany! We spent the next six weeks touring western Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Copenhagen! A fabulous tour, once again. The highlights – seeing Copenhagen for the first time, performing on TV in Friesland, playing in Northern Germany on the coast of the Baltic Sea and on the North Sea, and most especially, seeing old friends and making new ones.
When we returned home, Cailin’s mom came for a visit in July, during which time we flew out to BC for a week of shows, to return in time to pack up and get out! On August 17th, we temporarily moved in to our dear friends’ house in Lower Sackville where we dropped in sheer exhaustion in the grips of one hell of a chest cold, but not before playing the Coal Shed Festival in Yarmouth, a house concert in Dartmouth, and a concert in beautiful Cape Breton. We also played for the first time at the Armdale Yacht Club in Halifax. And now we are packing up and boarding VIA Rail once again for a tour across this great land of ours and spending Christmas with family in BC.
In the plans for our future?
We are just mapping out where our next touring will be and it looks like Spring 2019 will take us to places between Halifax and Toronto; summer will keep us busy in the Maritimes; and Fall 2019 will most likely see us back in the west through BC and Alberta. We may try to squeeze in more of the prairies, too, if we can manage it. We would also like to add in writing sessions this year with fascinating Canadian artists across the country. There is so much amazing talent in the country coming from all walks of life and we’d like to experience that on a deeper level. Who knows what amazing opportunities will come of that? The best part about being a touring musician is meeting so many interesting people! Our lives are so much richer for it, and through our music, we get to share that with you. How perfect is that?
Also in the plans are to write and record a Christmas album for release in November 2019. We already have a few great songs, so we’ll be focussing on writing a few more over the next couple of months, while the season is upon us. And we plan to record the odd single here and there, too, for release at various times of the year. So, lots coming up, lots to keep us busy, lots to keep us motivated in this game we call life. So many people to meet and places to see! And we’d love to take you all with us.
In Closing
So, on that note, be well everyone. Remember to stop and breathe every now and again and listen to the beauty that’s around you, even amidst all the negativity in our daily news. There is love and kindness out there. We see it everyday. You just have to look.

It’s been a busy time here in the Campbell + Green world so where to start?
Since last we wrote we’ve toured 6 weeks across Europe, 10 days across eastern Canada and 1 week in BC. We’ve sold a house, almost bought a house, had a visit with Mom, got a nice review from ‘The East Mag’, started recording Christmas songs, played a festival and a concert or two and have more shows coming up, here in Nova Scotia!
September 16th– 2 PM @ GPS House Concerts, Dartmouth – a friendly home concert venue
September 29th -7 PM Old School Musquodoboit – Concert at the funkiest listening room on the Eastern Shore
December we’re in Vancouver! Check our calendar, Dates are booked and more are being added.
If you know friends near the shows, let them know. We are always up for playing house concerts and listening venues, so if you would like to host or have a favourite venue where you like to listen to music, please let us know.
Our Life
We’re moving! We have sold our house so we can downsize and ‘minimize’ and have a simpler life. It will make touring a little easier too.
The old big house was, well, really big. 3700+ square feet on an acre of land is more work than we wanted and we are okay with letting our 60 seat home venue go, too. Not many folks wanted to drive 15 or 20 minutes out of downtown Dartmouth or Halifax as there was so much more for them to do closer in. We love doing hosting concerts but it’s time to focus on our upcoming projects.
We are currently staying with our lovely artsy friends, John & Brenda, in Lower Sackville, as we search for a mini-home somewhere in the region.
A New Review
The East Mag reviews the local arts scene here in Atlantic Canada – music, theatre, art, food – and reviewer Charlotte Simmons gave us these fine words regarding On Being Human: (more…)
Wow! We’ve been busy these past few months! We’ve hardly left the house as we were working on our new album ‘On Being Human’. The CD is out for printing and we are now putting all our attention on getting ready to go to Europe! Woohoo!
On May 9th, our Apples & Oranges 2018 Tour begins.
Apples ‘n’ Oranges Tour Dates poster
Apples & Oranges you ask? We wanted a tour name to reflect our views on how we felt about our music, life and touring. We have a wide variety of music in our history and our life together. We see thousands of people in our travels. And we see a lot of each other every day, too! And because of all the differences, just like there are differences between Apples & Oranges, it makes life interesting and wonderful.
There is a way to peacefully coexist, to ‘agree to disagree’ sometimes, and to share our hopes and dreams, failures and triumphs, and to continually work towards making the world a more inclusive and caring place.
Our first single off the album is due to be released very soon. Several of our new songs are quite introspective, personal or meaningful to us in some way or other. These songs were inspired by our travels, the people we’ve met, and various relationships. We hope you find a song or two off the album that resonate for you – maybe even inspire you.
Our Apples & Oranges tour dates are listed here and include shows in Toronto, Montreal, Germany, Denmark, Belgium and Netherlands! Follow along on our adventure through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. We’ll be posting lots of photos.
If you’re anywhere near any of these venues, please do come say hello and, if you would be so kind, share our world & invite your friends!

We are in the midst of recording our new album, titled “On Being Human” in preparation for the 2018 touring which starts late April. The “Naked Truth” tour will include Europe this spring and then throughout Canada plus a Christmas tour across Canada (and a new Christmas album too!)
“On Being Human” will feature all new songs we have co-written together and with writers from across Canada and beyond. The inspiration we get from our travels, our daily life and the people we meet have fed our passion for sharing stories of inclusion, love and connecting with the human spirit and the spirit of the universe around us. We are excited to share our new efforts with you!
We invite you to check out the to see some video about the campaign and check out all the perks we are offering including some of Cailin’s artwork, concerts and more. Your kind support is most appreciated but it need not always be financial. Your sharing with friends who may be interested, your recommendations for gigs and house concerts, and your good wishes are all very gratefully received and help us in our artistic endeavours.
Stay tuned because we will be posting more song snippets from the studio in coming days and weeks. Thank You!
Here we go! Once again, we are taking to the rails! Sunday, September 10th, we will board VIA Rail and roll our way across to Vancouver, thanks to VIA Rail’s ‘Artists On Board’ program supporting musicians and artists with their travel. We play 3 sets a day on board and short sets at the Halifax, Winnipeg, Jasper and Vancouver Stations.
Our previous rail experience to Montreal and back last spring was fabulous and we’re looking forward to meeting new folks in this intimate rolling venue. It’s a great way to interact and share songs and stories.
Equally exciting is our return to BC, our 3rd tour there since moving to Nova Scotia over five years ago. We are really looking forward to seeing family, friends and fans we haven’t seen for far too long. On the return trip on VIA Rail, we will be disembarking in Toronto where we have a show, then to Peterborough and Montreal for a couple more. We would love to see you! If you can’t make it, please send your friends and tell them to say hello! 🙂

Once back home, we’ll be playing a few local shows in Nova Scotia leading up to Christmas, some with the Monday Music Maven’s (the pop choir that Cailin directs). On November 1, Cailin will also be hanging her art at the Trellis Cafe in Hubbards, NS, for a month long show! To kick it off, we will be performing there on November 3rd. Look on our tour page for details.
Also ahead is a new album! We’ve been writing loads of new material and are excited to get in the studio once again to have new product for our 2018 touring season, including Europe in May and June! Watch for the great perks we will be offering through our Kickstarter campaign. We’ll tell you more later. Until then…
Oh, where to begin. Now that Spring is just around the corner, there is soooooo much to do to get ready for our upcoming touring season. And if that wasn’t enough already, we decided to put our house on the market, too. AAAaaaggghhh! What were we thinking?
But it’s all good. We’ve been busier than a beehive these last few weeks, making repairs and touch ups around the house, cleaning it up ‘right some good’ for prospective buyers (and realizing how much we’ve accumulated in the last 5 years since moving here… how does that happen?).
In addition, we’ve been writing a business and marketing plan to help us in our quest for music grants (we made how much and spent how much???). Who knew that writing a business plan could be so difficult? But, we’re nearly done and ready to submit for a couple different grants to help offset some of the costs of touring. Going to Europe isn’t cheap! Neither is going out west, but it’s what we love to do, so we’re going to make it happen.
And yes, we’re giving away our three newly recorded tunes! We have decided to make our new EP “2 of Hearts” absolutely free to anyone and everyone who wants it. Why? Well, we’ve done a lot of soul searching and we think our vision statement says it best (Can you tell we’ve been writing a business plan?).
“The vision of Campbell + Green is to make a contribution to humanity, to be advocates for all-inclusiveness, to heal intolerance by bringing people together through music, if even for a short time. Their vision is to continue to write songs that inspire and touch people’s hearts, and to link whole communities with each other, without preaching, through their music and performance.”
Whew, pretty deep, eh? We get that way sometimes.
But, seriously, we truly believe that music heals and can bring people together. Music does not discriminate, and neither do we. So, to show our gratitude to YOU, our friends, fans and family, please accept this gift, from our hearts to yours. And how do you get a copy of the aforementioned EP? Simple!
and click on the link at the top of the page. If you wish to repay us in some way, please share this or sign up for our quarterly newsletter – the first one is coming out shortly. We’d love to stay in touch and make sure you get any other perks we offer along the way.
Anyway, better get back to it. Once the business plan is done, we need to get pretty heavy into rehearsals, writing new tunes, figuring out all the details of travel, accommodations, etc., booking more gigs across Canada, booking lots of gigs across Canada (help! Any ideas for concerts, house concerts?), selling, packing, moving, downsizing, and yeah, I guess somewhere in there we need to find time to eat and sleep. It’s all good!
Peace + Love,
Robert + Cailin
p.s.: Please do share this and our work. It really helps and it means a lot to us.
That’s a wrap! Our new EP of three brand new songs is done and, thanks to CD Baby, is available for download there and via Google Play, iTunes and all the other online services. Woohoo! We will be releasing the tunes one at a time to radio, but all you wonderful people who listen to our music, you – the reason we make music! – can hear these tunes now!
These fabulous recordings are the work of some brilliantly talented people we couldn’t have done this without:
Producer and guitarist, mandolin, a keyboard track, programming, BG’s and engineering and… he’s a damn fine guy all round too. Our thanks here can’t do him justice –Jamie Robinson. Truly our hero!
Thanks also to Dave Gunning who threw his hat into the ring and assisted with engineering and mix. More than just a great songwriter/performer!
The Players:
Acoustic & Electric Bass – Ronald J Hynes – Ron played on our last album, “When One Door Closes” as well, superb
Have a listen and let us know what you think! Maybe leave a comment or testimonial here.
We would be honoured if you shared these with the world!
We are also in the midst of booking our 2017 shows including the UK, Germany, Netherlands, and, of course, Canada! The tour is all self-produced and we welcome your input, support and any connections you wish to share, either here in the Maritimes of Canada, across the country, or overseas. Love you all!

We’re playing around Canada this year and heading to Europe for April / May 2017 and are now booking shows. We would love to play for you. We head all the way to BC in the fall! These dates are coming soon (more detail here):
We have recorded a new EP to support this, our 2nd tour overseas, and are releasing tracks to radio now. If you have a favourite station we should send them too, let us know. Have a listen to the EP and our CD’s here on CD Baby or on iTunes.
We usually play concerts in ‘listening rooms’, theatres, festivals and house concerts. We also present songwriting and performance workshops if you host these.
Tech requirements are simple. We tour as a duo and have 2 vocals, one guitar, one keyboard. Acoustic shows are possible but prefer light amplification. We carry our own compact, efficient sound system and are also happy to use systems provided by the venue..
We would love to add your venue to our growing list of concerts.

We had a great summer this year, 2016, and as we move in to fall, we are getting really excited as we set our sights on our return tour to Germany next spring. However, this time, we will also be touring in the UK! Woohoo! We look forward to seeing all the friends we made on our last trip and making a whole bunch more!
Our summer consisted of lots of very busy days with our B&B guests, friends and family visits, concerts and workshops here at ROCA House, which has just been nominated by Music Nova Scotia for Venue of the Year! How cool is that?
We had the great pleasure of hosting artists such as Lynn Miles, Orit Shimoni, Laura Smith w/ Kim Dunn and Suzie Vinnick. We also hosted a great concert and workshop with the lovely Katey Brooks, who was on tour from the UK. Not only that, we drove up to NB with her afterwards and played a couple of shows together, so we got to hear her gorgeous voice three times!!! Can’t wait to see her again when we get to Bristol, UK!
Cailin’s mom also stayed with us for the month of July and we hit the road for a short excursion to her home town of Shediac, NB to visit with family, and search out some family history. More fodder for songs!
In August, we had the great pleasure of visiting with our good friend, Ivan Boudreau, who is a fabulous singer/songwriter. We met up in Yarmouth for the Coal Shed Festival, where we had a ton of fun playing a set on the big stage and then hosting a song circle in the Rudder’s Tent along with Connie Saulnier and Jacques Surrette noth from the Yarmouth area. The 5 of us were all quite different. There was a good turnout and folks seemed to enjoy it so we’ve been asked to reprise something like this next year on the main stage! 🙂
In other news, we are currently recording more songs with producer extraordinaire, Jamie Robinson, and will begin laying tracks at Dave Gunning’s studio at the end of the month. Couldn’t be more excited! And this is all possible in large part to a demo grant we received from FACTOR to help with the costs of studio, musicians and producing. Very grateful for their support!!
The three songs we are recording are:
I Wanna Be Your Girl – a fun summer pop song that Cailin wrote
Troubles to the Grave – a quirky tune on lightening up, co-written with Ivan Boudreau and Robert
Big Hearts & Small Towns – a country flavoured tune written with Doug Folkins and Lucy LeBLanc and Robert
In between all the comings and goings around our place, we played a few gigs this summer, too. We played a couple of times at the Halifax Airport. That was interesting. During the summer, they have live entertainment in the main lobby on Thursdays and Fridays. We had plenty of audience who were having to wait hours for their next flight, the staff on their lunch breaks, and the many who were rushing by to get to their gate on time. The rushing by people never failed to give us a thumbs up or a smile on their way through. Good fun!
We also played at the Alderney Landing Farmers’ Market a couple of times, and for the first time, we played Henley House in Sheet Harbour. Lovely folks up there, great food and a warm reception. Can’t ask for better than that. We also played our annual Labour Day Weekend concert on the Seaside up near Pugwash. We’ve had perfect weather three years in a row and get to spend some time with great friends. And, we had the pleasure of playing for the fine folks of Musquodoboit at the Musquodoboit Old School. Such a great community!
So, as you can see, lots continues to happen here at Roca House, and with Campbell + Green.
If you would like to join the newsletters for Campbell + Green and/or Roca House please click here. We will send you some free music just for signing up, offer special tickets and give-aways every once in a while AND, most importantly, we will not spam you or give out your email address and you can Opt-out at any time.. All the thing savvy marketing people do!
Stay tuned for more news in the coming months.
This, the last installment of our tour photos, is the collection of photos we took on our side visits while traveling from gig to gig. Whenever possible, we avoided the Autobahn and took the spectacularly beautiful country roads through the sweetest villages and lush farmland, stopping to visit as many castles as we could fit in. There was a new wonder around every corner and all we could do was look with wide open eyes and drink it all in. We can’t remember the names of most of these places anymore, but it doesn’t matter. All of Germany was, to us, a vivid and colourful living dream of music, joy and friendship. Until next time!
Koblenz was the first town in Germany that we stayed in and also the last, on account of that is where our dear friend, Jessica, lives. She was instrumental in making our tour a success, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Koblenz is at the junction of the two rivers, the Mosel and beautiful Rhine. We were fortunate to have a day to drive up the Rhine river looking for castles and taking tours and, yes, having a ‘bier’. Not a difficult thing to do since there are castles everywhere in Germany (as well as good bier!). Even though it was a grey, rainy day, we thoroughly enjoyed our exploring and discovered some spectacular sights along the way. And thank goodness for GPS. That’s all we’re saying…
